3. Which service will we provide you with?
We will advise and make a recommendation for you after we have assessed your needs.
4. What will you have to pay us for our services?
A fee of up to 20% of the premium (£25.00 minimum) for all New Business transactions. A fee of up to 20% of the premium (£25.00 minimum) for all Renewal transactions. A fee of up to 20% of the premium (£25.00 minimum) for administration of changes & amendments to your policy. A fee of up to 20% of the return premium (£25.00 minimum) for all cancellations A fee of £10.00 for administering a duplicate document. A fee of £5.00 for any payment that is received late. A fee of £25.00 for any cheque returned as unpaid.
Fees are reviewed on the 1st January and 1st September every year.
You are entitled, at any time, to request information regarding any commission, which we may have received as a result of placing your insurance business.
5. Client Account Interest
Please note that if money paid by you by way of premiums or fees is held in a client account no interest is payable to you in respect of that account.
For some of the markets in which we place business we have agreements in place which may result in us holding premiums as agents of the insurer, both for the purposes of receiving premiums and holding premium refunds.
6. Governing Law
Unless we have agreed otherwise with you, all policies sold by us are governed by English law and subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts. All information about the contract will be provided in English.
7. Who regulates us?
Equity Insurance Brokers Limited, is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Our head office address is Library House, New Road, Brentwood, Essex CM14 4GD. Our registration number is 312083. You can check our registration on the FSA’s register by visiting their website www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting the FSA on 0845 606 1234.
8. Ownership
Equity Insurance Brokers Limited. Equity Insurance Brokers Limited's ultimate controlling company, EIG (Finance) Limited, is also the controlling company of Equity Syndicate Management Limited, which manages Syndicate 218 at Lloyd's. Equity Red Star Limited, also ultimately controlled by EIG (Finance) Limited, is a corporate name on Syndicate 218 at Lloyd's providing over 64% of the syndicate's capacity.
9. Your Right to Cancel
This section contains important notes about your rights of cancellation. You must read these notes carefully.
You can cancel your policy at any time by sending written notice to the address given below:
We can cancel your policy by sending you a seven-day notice in writing to your last known address.
If your policy is cancelled, we will refund your premium as follows.
- If you cancel your policy within the 14-day withdrawal period, and before the commencement of the policy, we will refund the full premium.
- If you or we cancel the policy at any other time, we will refund the part of the premium you have not used subject to an administration fee of up to 20% of the return premium and any charge made by the insurer. (Refer to your policy booklet/policy summary for details of the insurers cancellation charges).
- We may not refund your premium if you have made a claim, or if one has been made against you, during the period of insurance. If you are paying by instalments and have made a claim you may have to pay the balance of the full annual premium.
Motor Policies
We will only cancel a Motor Policy at your request, if you meet the legal requirement to return the certificate of motor insurance. If you have lost the certificate of motor insurance, you must send in a completed written declaration confirming that you wish to cancel and no longer have the certificate of motor insurance in your possession.
Motor Legal Protection
The above policies can be cancelled at anytime. However, unless they are cancelled within the 14-day withdrawal period, they will be subject to no return in premium.
Notes
The address to return your policy document to is: Equity Insurance Brokers Ltd, Commercial Division, 6 High Street, Stone, Staffs. ST15 8AW The withdrawal period of 14 days commences from the time the contract is concluded.
The contract is concluded, when you receive the documents. We are entitled to assume that documents have been received in accordance with accepted principles of law. That is: provided the document is sent to the correct address or number, documents posted first class on business day 1 are received on business day 2.
10. What to do if you have a complaint
We aim to provide all our customers with a high level of service and satisfaction but if you wish to complain about any aspect of our dealings with you please contact us:

These procedures do not affect your right to take legal action if necessary.
11. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.
Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000.00 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit.
